Upcoming Special Events with Kadam Morten
The Seven Jewels of the Kadampa Tradition
Saturday, Jan 30, 10 am - 3:30 pmWhat is Kadampa Buddhism? What is the special blend of practices that constitute the Kadampa Tradition?
In this course, Kadam Morten will explain the Seven Jewels of the Kadampa Tradition. The Seven Jewels are the most prized practices emphasized by Atisha, the founder of Kadampa Buddhism, over one thousand years ago. Understanding these gives us insight into the alchemy of Kadam Dharma that enables us to transform our daily life into a path to happiness and enlightenment. In particular we will learn about the importance of integrating view, meditation and action, and how to practice sutra in conjunction with tantra. Kadam Morten will also explain the main Buddhist Deities of our tradition such as the Buddha of compassion, Avalokiteshvara, and the female Buddha Tara, as well as the meaning of a Dharma Protector.
This day workshop will deepen our understanding of the Kadampa Buddhist path. By skillfully and gradually incorporating these practices – which Geshe Kelsang has shown us how to do simply and effectively – our own life becomes a joyful and inspired path to enlightenment.

Abiding in Freedom, Training in Emptiness – A Meditation Retreat with Kadam Morten
March 3rd - 5thDuring this weekend retreat in the blessed and beautiful environment of the Kadampa Meditation Center and Temple we will explore the liberating meditation on emptiness. Emptiness is the word used by Buddha to describe the ultimate nature of reality. It is not a nihilistic nothingness, but rather an experience of freedom from limitation that allows us to let go of our painful ways of relating to ourselves and the world. It is the key to solving all our problems and experiencing actual liberation and enlightenment.
Kadam Morten will guide us into a practical experience of the meditation on emptiness, showing us to integrate this joyful meditation into our own daily practice.
The retreat will begin Friday evening at 8pm, March 3 and continue to Sunday afternoon, 3pm, March 5. Everyone welcome.
